Golf made simple.

Meet Dan Poling

Dan Poling is a West Virginian with an accomplished golf professional with a diverse and extensive career spanning over three decades. A dedicated athlete from a young age, Dan was a four-year letterman in golf at both Philip Barbour High School (1977-1981) and Fairmont State College (1984-1988), where he was also named a two-time all-conference player.

Dan’s career took off in 1990 when he became the Head Golf Professional and General Manager at Tygart Lake Country Club in Grafton, a position he held until 1999. In 1997, he co-founded and served as the General Manager and Head Golf Professional at Grafton Golf Center, further cementing his expertise in the industry.

In the early 2000s, Dan moved from West Virginia to South Carolina, where he expanded his knowledge and experience as the Assistant Golf Professional at Wachesaw Plantation East in Murrells Inlet, and later became the Lead Golf Instructor at Championship Golf at Tupelo Bay in Garden City. During his time in South Carolina, he also co-founded The Golf School of Myrtle Beach, where he led as the primary instructor and fostered the growth of aspiring golfers.

Alongside his teaching, Dan held leadership roles in several prestigious golf organizations, including serving as Vice President of the Myrtle Beach Junior Golf Foundation and directing tours for both the U.S. Kids Golf Foundation and the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour. These roles allowed him to guide and mentor young golfers and contribute to the growth of the sport.

In 2016, Dan moved from South Carolina to Connecticut, where he spent nearly a decade traveling the world and exploring new cultures and countries. Dan has now returned to West Virginia where he brings his wealth of experience and passion for the game back to the Mountain State, eager to give back to the community and help golfers of all skill levels achieve their potential.

Since his return to the state in 2025, Dan has taken on multiple channels of involvement in the industry. He is the Player Development Coach for the men’s and women’s golf teams for Fairmont State University. He is the Assistant Golf Professional at Bridgeport Country Club. He is the West Virginia sales representative for COBRA PUMA GOLF. He has also taken on individual youth lessons for up-and-coming competitors in Charleston, West Virginia.
